Holiday to Dubai end of June
I have a holiday booked for myself and my daughter the end of June going to Dubai.
Obviously with the current situation im concerned about saftey as we dont know how long this is going on for.
Obviously this is like a dream holiday for my daughter it was something i saved quite a while for her so i want to make sure this works out ok for her.
I asked Tui who we booked it with would we be able to either cancel or change our holiday but Tui have said that i would loose over a thousand pounds which for me is quite a lot of money.
So im in a quandry i could wait and see if the govement say its ok to fly and if it is go. Or if its not then wait for Tui to refund me at the time bit then i have to wait for the refund and ive already booked time off work.
So im wondering if this is correct or do you know if they are just trying to pull a fast one so to speak im just wondering what are my rights?
On a seperate but to do with this i asked my holiday insurance if i do go to Dubai and its deemed safe however when we arrive there is incidents still going on with the war which then make it unsafe during our holiday would i be covered? Firstly im told im not covered in instaces of war. The second question i asked is surley as i have purchased extra insurance incase of acts of terroism i would be covered becsuse although yes there is a war however if another country which is not directly involved in the war becomes a target surley this is deemed an act of terroism?
They so far have not responded to my question bear in mind this insurance was purchased last year along with my holiday before all of this happened

Historically, no war in that region is a fast one. Act of a random terrorism is not a known active war and a known active danger. Not knowledgeable in insurance, but I'd be surprised if a civilian insurance covers holidays in a war zone

Your concerns are understandable.
As for the travel insurance, I think it would be "act of war" not "terrorism". By virtue of the fact that UAE is being attacked by Iran, then UAE are directly involved in the war, albeit showing restraint in their responses.
I am not an expert and have not looked up formal definitions but I would segregate "act of war" is by a state openly acting whereas "terrorism" is a more subterfuge and less open act. Both would be terrifying if they involve you.
As to the holiday company, I think they are correct in that, if you cancel now, then you would lose your deposit and other funds due in line with the cancellation policy. If the travel company cancel when the date gets nearer then the refunds (or alternative trip) will follow via appropriate processes. There is no more reason to expect TUI to know now what the FCDO advice will be in June than you or I know. TUI can only make a decision much nearer to the time of travel.

You need to wait for TUI to make a decision on whether or not they are going to cancel the holiday. If you cancel at this stage it's classed as 'disinclination to travel' and you will lose the deposit at minimum.

A refund from termination of a package booking must be made within 14 days, but if they cancel the trip closer to the time and there's an alternative TUI destination that you have in mind then you ought to be able to rebook with them immediately rather than waiting for a refund.

You can only wait and see if the holiday is cancelled.
The military action was initiated by two soveriegn nations so I can't think it would be considered as an act of terrorism for travel insurance purposes.
