Logik Airfryer

I hope this is the right forum.

Has anyone bought one of these? Are they reliable?

We had a Ninja and it only lasted 2 years and now I'm wary about buying a new one.

    Are any air fryers reliable?

How long do people expect an air fryer to last?

They seem to be very low cost items and - presumably - draw a high current to achieve the heating that is necessary.

I have never had an air fryer but, if I was buying one, I think I'd go for the budget end of the market and treat them as a short-lived "disposable" item of consumer electronics (which challenges my "green" desires).

They use less leccy than a small oven and are very useful for some things i.e. chips , and lots of other things , they take less time to reach the required temps for pre-heated oven food, and are perfect for a single person.

Cannot speak for their new logik range, or specifically air fryers

But Ive had an old Currys branded microwave for years had it before moved c15 yrs ago now. And an essentials range dehumidifier thats now c5 yrs old.

you might get better quality from some brands and more modes etc or simply better cooking results with a ninja, than a cheap brand, but its at a price premium.

And like anything any brand no matter what price can break.

Big names like ninja certainly tend to do better in things like which reviews than some cheaper / "unbranded" models.

At least logik afaik not on a recall notice like iirc is it now 6 tower air fryer models for fire safety

[i bought a cheap air fryer, as was sceptical about worth the cost of the premium brands like ninja from a supermarkets own brand - at time £60 on sale for 4l - as my old electric conventional oven was slow to reach temp and so more expensive to run.

it was maybe not perfect for everyone but did what i needed it for, basic heating of things like frozen , chips, crispy skin baked potatoes, roast veg, (what we Scots call link) sausages (hate frying them) - and when decided i needed bigger bought the same brand again and my sister now uses my old one - its pushing 4+ yrs now..

Got a 6l Scoville now, it can even take a small pizza (just) - its dropped in price to at £40 - third of price of tfe ninja pro 6.2l they sell. Its panel controls a bit fiddly cf old one perhaps, I stipl miss the old seperate stop button. So similar price point of currys 6.5l single basket logik.]

So if the logik does what you need - the way i see it is even if the cheap brand lasts only a few years - relatively "cheap as chips" to replace.

I'd steer well clear of anything from Logik. It's a Currys brand, and their reputation for customer service is dire.

Although this Which? report relates to TVs, much the same is likely to apply to air fryers.

my air fryer 1.7kW cooks most things i use it for, and thats not continuous load, in less time than the 15-20 min it takes my old conventional 2.2kW oven on full power to reach temp - and it will power cycle every x mins once cooking.

its my second cheap supermarket brand model now - my sister has my first smaller model. Not sure id ever pay the premium brand pricing. Iirc at the time bought first many lower range ninjas etc had sold out - so it was a £60 vs nearer £200 type choice. My new model now costs just £40.

Which i do condider short term / disposable pricing for something so useful.

And if electric goes as high as post Ukraine - at current pricing the payback on cheap models will be really quick.

Energy saving was the prinary reason i bought it.

Time saving the second - as can now eat having cooked at e10 evening off peak rate - 8pm gmt start - about 20-30 mins earlier.

on a cheap and so probably uneconomic to repair product like many lower end air fryers i wouldnt worry about customer service.

ive returned new faulty or damaged goods to Currys no problems at all at local stores.

After cut off some do try to defer to manufacturers even under warranty which is a pain.

You might want to go to likes of John Lewis for their "free" extended warranties on TVs etc - but we (sibling) had a real mare getting them to sort our parents 2.5 yr old big name model.

Largely in hands of manufacturer - to repair - not retailer anyway.

An air fryer might save you £20 a year in electricity (compared to an oven) if you use it a lot but if it costs £60 and burns out after 2 or 3 years, you've saved nothing.

Wait until your oven has broken and replace it with an air fryer maybe. Until you actually need an oven to cook the turkey at Christmas, as it won't fit in an air fryer.

come July that might just be £30 or £35..

Based on last crisis when even epg 2500/1641apr = 50%

and demand / availability might reflect that - it did last crisis.

The $100 crude prices are already likely to be raising transport / shipping costs, as will cape diversion, so even the prices might not hold.

The op wants a cheap air fryer to replace an expensive one.

Your £20 - just emphasises the risk of investing too much - so backs up OP looking at budget.

my model £40 - so 2 yrs - the equiv sized ninja at same supermarket - £128 6.5 yrs - on sale £150/7,5 not - a much more difficult call. And a not so easy to find from a squeezed family budget £150.

It is not just energy we spend a lot on olive oil (not my choice) I think this could pay for itself in a year considering that cost.
