Car dealership help

Hi all, Went to look at cars at a showroom looked at one or two. Sat down with salesman said there was a car on their website that wasn't at the dealership as a manager was using it and he was off work. I said I wasn't going ahead with anything unless see actual car. Told me to sit in a similar car. Assured me the one on web was pristine condition. Kept pushing me to sign saying the deals only on today, to commit today what if I give you this and that. He said I could see the car the following Friday and said "If you don't like it when you see it on Friday its fine." No offer of a test drive in any car. After being extremely reluctant, and feeling uncomfortable I signed paperwork. I was very uncomfortable and called to arrange see the car 2 days later. The car had scratches and marks on it and a rip all along one side of the boot. It was only then I had a test drive and told the different salesperson I wasnt happy. I called the finance company and asked them to unwind the agreement as not happy with the car, they agreed to and that they'd contact the dealer. Next day the salesman rang me and was rude saying I had signed a purchase agreement as well as a finance agreement so I HAD to buy that car or another car from them due to this seperate contract with them which wasnt explained. He flat out denied ever saying if didn't like the car when saw it its fine. His Manager called me and was also very rude and said his salesman would never say that and that I had to buy the car as there is no cancellation policy on the purchase contract (there was 14 day cooling off period on the finance). He called again next day had a go as to why not called him back and said I've spoken to Consumer Line and he would get a letter. I wrote to him stating my rights, that by law I was under no onligation to accept repairs or a replacement and asking him to return the funds to the finance company as they had accepted the return advance from the finance company, so that it can be cancelled. Also that the other contract falsely states I had inspected the car and release me from the other contract. Today the Manager emailed me saying basically we will do the repairs come and collect your car. He also said the finance company had not been in touch with the dealership and they hadn't agreed a return in advance. I called the finance company and they again confirmed that they had and the dealership had accepted. The finance company have been really supportive but the dealership have been really rude and aggressive and will not budge. I would not knowingly sign a comtract stating we had to buy especially after what he said. Any advice?

put it in writing as you have the right under consumer law to reject. I would give them 14’days to return the deposit. The car is not as described and you may struggle to get you deposit back, but keep with it.

Just to be clear, what, if anything, does the contract say about the condition of the car, and likewise is there any mention of it not being binding (which is effectively the starting position of an 'in-store' purchase agreement) or was this solely verbal?

Hi Thank-you for your comment, we actually never put a deposit down it was a 100 percent finance deal, we have wrote to them explaining our rights but seemingly they replied as if they never read the letter and stated its ours to collect.

Condition of the car was all verbal. The contract says I have inspected the car, when I hadn't. Its headlined Legally Binding Contract. It does state in the clauses if delivery not taken in 7 days the contract is cancelled. There has been no exchange of goods or services - the car is still in their possession, I rejected it once I'd seen and inspected it.

    New or 2nd hand car?

If you had not inspected car, why sign to say you had?

I'm baffled as to why you signed an agreement to purchase a (second hand?) car you've not seen or driven, and was off-site being used by the colleague.

I wouldn't have signed anything, I'd have left, and returned another day if I wanted the car.

Easy to be wise after the event, but if I was looking to buy and was told the offer 'is for today only', I would walk away.

"the offer 'is for today only"

A well known sales tactic along with someone else being very interested to buy and there's a lot of interest from potential buyers etc..
