Issue with PCN from Britannia Parking
Hi guys,
Newbie here, and yes I've read through the guides however I'm not sure if this scenario is covered.
I received a parking charge from Britannia Parking for overstaying the allowed time of 2 hours - date of contravention was 02/02/2026, date of first letter was 09/02/2026.
A guy I used to work with started a parking charge appeals company (Parking Mate UK - enjoy the reviews on Trust Pilot…) so I thought I'd give him a chance and paid the £30 fee, uploaded all required info and thought that would be great. Except it's anything but - the support is via a Whatsapp number and the responses are usually non existant. I've chased the owner on there many times as well as on LinkedIn (I had a good relationship when I worked with him years ago) and he rarely replies to my messages.
Low and behold the deadline for paying the reduced fee passed, and then the final reminder arrived this week with a deadline of 11/03/2026. I've not yet paid the fee of £100, but should I just suck it up and pay it and accept that the appeals company has taken my money and not going to do anything for me now? Or is there still a chance I can challenge it?
Thanks for reading and for any advice you can provide

"the deadline for paying the reduced fee passed"
Yes, quite normal. That's irrelevant when a person appeals so there was nothing wrong with that. There was a full month to appeal. Did an appeal go in?
Why didn't you just complain to the retailer or business? They can cancel it. Do that now.
You never have to pay a private parking charge all the time that the sector remains unregulated. You'll never pay it.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thanks for replying. I have no idea if the appeal has been lodged but I'm doubtful.
Waitrose have just said to contact Britannia Parking.

But Waitys normally cancel these for customers. Did you insist on complaining to the store manager?
An appeal has probably gone in but so what if not?! Nobody pays these.

I have contacted them on Facebook and Twitter, contacting them on the phone just pushed me back to Britannia - I will try and find a time to go into store and ask though.
I don't have any trust in Parking Mate UK that they've put an appeal in, but at the same time I don't want to just ignore this, so I feel the next option (if complaining to Waitrose doesn't work) is to send them a letter saying I won't be notifying them of the driver and to cancel the charge etc?

I think that the £30 option is a sc@m
An appeal costs nothing, so bung in your own keeper appeal to Britannia

Thanks, but I can't appeal online anymore when I login to Britannia.

Yes you never needed a third party.

Totally, I thought I was doing a good thing trusting a guy I used to work with but in reality it's been the complete opposite.
So wait to see if Waitrose respond and then send a letter with the appeal template & stating I won't be telling them the registered keeper, please cancel etc?

They already know that you are the Registered Keeper

Sorry, I meant who was the driver at the time.
