Informing of address change (or not)

A new thread as this is a general question.

Question: Will informing the PCN/solicitors of an address change trigger them to wake up and pick up the case?

The background - my PCN was issued in mid 2022, so it's been around 4 years so far, with 2 more years to go before the 6 year time-out. In November 2023 I had a Letter of Claim from Shakespeare M, and then in March 2024 an email from them informing me they were "instructed to issue legal proceedings". Since then - nothing. It's been two years and they haven't been in touch.

I will have a possible address change soon, and I want to understand what happens when I inform the legal reps for PCM of a new correspondence address.

Will this trigger them to wake up and pick up the case?
I'd rather not remind them if possible and I will have a Royal Mail redirection setup so will still get post for 12 months (so covers 5 of the 6 year window).

No. Shakespeare Martineau aren't issuing claims at all for parking firms.

But I definitely would update PCM.

    Thanks @Coupon-mad and @Car1980

I have found the info@ email for PCM and will email with the PCN reference as the subject and a single line:

"Please remove the previous address (old address) for any future correspondence and replace with (x new address).

    Name"

I will cc myself in so I have a record of the email.

Does that sound ok or should I change/add anything?

You should tell them to ERASE the old address as that has special meaning where data is concerned. Make sure you mark it for the attention of the DPO and also require them to inform all and any of their agents and contractors. Good idea to include yourself in the email trail.

Thank you @Le_Kirk - this is what I'm sending to 'info', 'dpo' and cc-ing myself:

    FAO DPO,
My address has changed so please action this Data Rectification Notice immediately.
You must erase the old address [old address].
You must use the new address for any correspondence.
Please also inform all appropriate agents or contractors (where required).

    Thank you,
    [me]
    [new address]
