Advice on Argos Refunds
I purchased an electrical Item a Security Camera on the 4th of March 2026 at Argos instore and on the 6th of March went back to the store and requested a refund. I chose the wrong Security camera from the computer screen instore. I was not aware that if the thin cellophane which is wrapped around the box is a security wrap, no indication and was not told when receiving the item that I would have this problem. I took the cellophane off and immediately notice it was the wrong item I purchased. I went back to the store and explained that it was the wrong product and the lady refused point blank to refund or even suggest a replacement because I took the cellophane off and the item is unused still in the box. What can I do?

This is what MSE say about it…
You DON'T have a legal right to change your mind & return store-bought goods. Even if you've bought the wrong colour or size, stores don't legally have to refund you simply because you've changed your mind. (It's different if items are faulty.)
You can read more about it here…

There is no legal right to a refund or exchange for an instore purchase solely because of a change of mind.
You should've checked the retailer's refund and exchange policy before purchase, they are available in store and online, they aren't obliged to tell every individual customer at the point of sale.0 -
Sell it on eBay.

As advised above, either use it, or sell it to minimise your loss.

It's unfortunate the OP didn't pay for the security camera online and then go and collect it. Correct me if I am wrong, but doing it that way means the items are covered by the distance selling regulations. Which means they could have returned the camera for a refund. I always pre pay when buying stuff from Argos.

Argos have their own 30 day policy
but that still states
In a re-saleable condition and security seals intact (where applicable)
