Summer travel to Turkey

Hi,

Booked a family package holiday for eight people with TUI to Antalya in July. The balance is due at the end of April and with the Middle East situation not looking great at the moment what are my best options? I paid the deposit using my credit card and have travel insurance to cover my family of four. If it gets to the end of April and travel to Turkey is banned, what would be the best course of action?

The tour operator would fully refund you if you couldnt go.

    July is 4 months away.

The tourist areas of Turkey are nowhere near the conflict areas.

If you refuse to pay the full balance now you will lose your deposit. The fact you paid deposit on a credit card in this scenario is irrelevant, there is no current valid S75 claim until the FCO advise against all travel to Turkey (at which point TUI would refund you anyway)

You are not going to get a refund in April, just because that is when the balance is due. That’s several months away from when you actually travel and there is no reason at the moment to consider that you will not be able to go.

All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

As others have said, continue to plan for your holiday and manage any issues nearer the time. Turkey is a huge country and Antalya is a long way from any issues. Youve done everything right with regard to paying on a credit card and taking out insurance, don't overthink it.

We have a holiday booked in Turkey for June. We are fully expecting to go as it's highly unlikely that anything going on in the region will affect tourist areas so I'd suggest you go ahead with your plans.

Antalya is over 500 miles from the Syrian border. Foreign Office advice is against travelling close to the border.
