Rubbery fabric glue for a rug
I have a rug that's supposed to have strips of heavy fabric glued on the back, around the edges, to cover a join in the backing fabric. But the glue has failed and the strips started peeling off.
I have temporarily replaced them with carpet tape, but it's not ideal.
I think I need some kind of heavy duty rubbery fabric glue to stick the strips back on. But I am not sure what to use. There are many glues out there, but most come in tiny tubes, and I am going to need quite a lot.
Any ideas?
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

Evostik impact adhesive is available in large tins,

Copydex may be better on fabrics - it has a softer texture (when dry) than solvent-based adhesives.

I think carpet joiners use a heat activated tape for this.

I've used both Evo stick and copydex on fabric. Made a whole carpet out of square samples.
Not sure if the brands are the same as they were but some research should sort that.
There is also a very strong double sided tape made for carpet that I've used.
For edging I'd opt for Evo stick as the strongest. You may need to ventilate the room as you work and until it dries.
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Photo, please, Ecto?
Are these strips suitable for reusing? Are they fabric - sort of porous?
If so, then I bet StixAll will do the job nicely. Use a scraper to apply a film on the fabric, and ditto to the carpet -= force it right in to the fibres. Then add a further layer if needed. Apply the tape, reposition the rug on the floor (but with a plastic sheet under it to prevent SA getting on the floor), and walk up and down the glued area.
SA is very rubbery and very tough and very sticky.

Another vote for either EvoStik or Copydex. Both are good for fabrics. I think I'd tend more towards EvoStik as it's very strong as long as you apply it correctly. But both are good, cheap and easily available.

EvoStik also has the advantage (over StixAll) of being instant bonding.

Picture for those who wanted one. I have folded over a corner of the rug to show the back. The black tape covers where the cloth strip should be.
If it sticks, force it.
