I've found out the rates for Octopus Go:

    Night rate (00:30 - 05:30)

    9.5p / kWh

    Day rate (05:30 - 00:30)

    35.24p / kWh

    Standing charge

    50.29p / day

Standing charge is 3p more, day rate is expensive but I don't think I'd use it much, if at all.

"not yet, I've only lived here for 5 months, after 3 months I added 6kw storage, and last week I added 5kw of panels and upgraded the inverter so I don't have any stable data to look at

would I have to sacrifice the export for for an off peak rate??"

I guess it depends on the tariff you choose. Aren't some of the higher export rates linked to specific import tariffs?

The reason I asked about your usage is because we have a 13.5kWh Tesla Powerwall 3 battery but no solar.
We use Economy 7 and charge the battery up between 00:30 and 07:30, then use only the battery for the rest of the day.

I got a cracking E7 deal from Utility Warehouse with an off-peak rate of 4.99p fixed to Nov26. The peak rate and standing charge are both high, but as we use hardly any peak rate at all, it really doesn't matter what they charge.
Sadly the deal was regional and it looks like they have almost doubled it now in my region (Yorkshire).

I just wondered if you could find the lowest cost Eco 7 deal in your region to charge up your battery and last the whole day on battery and solar. If you aren't exporting a great deal on an annual basis, then charging the battery for the lowest possible cost could well more than offset any loss from solar.

ah I see what you mean, if I left octopus I'd loose the export tariff, but if I stay with them I could potentially keep it.
I'll see what deals I can find on utilities warehouse

I've heard people can just say you have an EV, do they actually check?

For Intelligent Go, yes they make a data connection to either your EV (so you have to hasve an EV) or to your EV charge point (so you have to have an EV charge point) and then they make a test charge (so you need to have an EV then).

You then have to make a smart EV charge every month or so, or they kick you off the tariff.

Regular ol' Go (not ther Intelligent one) might be easier to spoof but the off-peak rate is more expensive and only 5 hours not 6.

5 hours for regular go would be ok, the house already has an antiquated EV chargepoint from around 2020 (non smart)

my inverter can charge at 30A, by rough calculations thats slightly less than 7kw/hr, so really I could make do with 1 hour
