Octopus Tracker

Hi all. Has anyone out there braved the Tracker tariff throughout the winter? If so, has it worked out to be very expensive? I have kept an eye on the rates, and they have appeared to be very high for a lot of the time. I bottled out towards the end of last year and went on a decent fix. The thing is, what to do when my fix runs out with the market being in turmoil at the moment. Thoughts please.

    Thoughts please.

Maybe you could catch up with recent posts the main Tracker thread? You don't have to read all 800+ pages, just the recent ones.

(Looking at your posting history you've started seven separate threads about Tracker, all of which could just as easily been part of the main discussion.)

Just FYI I've been on Gas Tracker continuously since April 2022.

Thank you for responding to my post. Does it work out massively more expensive when the rates go very high?

I find it difficult to compare tariffs, so I just stick with the Octopus dynamic tariff.

    In 2025 my electricity cost £106 for 31 days of usage(425 @25p)..

    In Jan 2026 my electricity cost £49 for 31 days of usage(220 @ 22.4p).

Too soon to be looking at how much extra Trump is costing us?

Like all energy tariffs, how much more expensive it is depends on how much you use.

Currently (since the start of the month) Gas tracker is around 7p/kWh, vs. 6p/kWh on the SVT and perhaps 5p/kWh if youngot a good fix earlier in the year.

    But I'm using less than 20kWh a day, so that's only 20p or 40p a day.

Back in January though I was paying less than 5p/kWh and using more like 60kWh a day, so I was saving ~70p/day vs. the SVT and maybe 10p/day vs. the good fix I didn't take.

Overall, I'm still ahead this winter.

I'm currently on tracker for both gas & electricity, I just got an Email saying

"From April 1st, we'll apply the full government discount to your dynamic Octopus Tracker unit price."
