Calling all Edinburghers Help please.

Hi all,
My son and his wife are out in Scotland from Canada on holiday and are on a limited budget. They went to Edinburgh today and were enthralled with the castle. Went to go in and were dismayed to find the cost of £12 each. My son works 3 jobs at minimum wage of £2.85 in Canadian dollars. I was trying dilligently (as every good mum does) to find any deals or 2 for 1s for him and his wife. Well I came across this site and it states that if you go to a certain page in the magazine that you can have free entry to the castle.

He plans on going back in 2 weeks, when he gets another pay cheque in the bank. I was wondering if any nice MSErs in the true spirit of money saving would be kind enough to send me the page from the magazine or apply for one if they don't have one. I will gladly send you a stamped addressed envelope.

Here is the site. Thanks all in advance.

    Hi taffyscot
I don't have the mag or vouchers but I saw your posting for these vouchers and looked up the t & c's. You've got to have ID with address on it because it's only for residents of Edinburgh so I don't think they would be able to use them.
    Here's what it says-
    • Present the completed voucher with proof of your identity and address at the ticket office of the Castle you are interested in visiting and get free admission for up to two adults and two children.
    • The offer is valid for one visit between 1 November 2007 and 31 March 2008.
    • Photocopies of vocuhers are not acceptable.
    • This offer is not valid in conjunction with any other offer, no cash alternative. Please note that this offer is only available to residents of Edinburgh and the Lothians.
    • Staff have the right to refuse admission if appropriate identification is not provided.
Have you looked at this site it's cheaper for multi passes than historic scotland but I don't know if it covers the castle.

If I do come across any free ones I'll PM you.

Oh thanks for that jaydee. I am the world's worse for jumping in and not reading all the terms and conditions. I will look up that site you gave me now. Sorry folks for not doing my homework properly. Taffy

This offer was posted in the Scotland board and I sent off for the magazine before Christmas but haven't received it so its unlikely you would get the magazine in time anyway. Having said that I hadn't read that you had to take proof of address with you.
