Anyone used an AI package to decipher handwritten text?

Interesting.
It's certainly flawed, which is no surprise, but it's surprising in the ways it is.
One document had a couple of christian names, one much longer and easy to read, the other only three letters long, and you'd have to study it before concluding what it is (I knew, because I know the person). Gemini got the first name right - well duh - but because the context for both was similarish - they were in reference to the same third party - it gave the second name that of the first, even tho' a glance told you it wasn't. It used context to override optical recognition.
So, yes, it needs checking carefully.
The intros and analyses, whilst fascinating and potentially very useful, are also very flawed - it's trying too hard to be insightful, but more annoying is how bolshie it asserts its conclusions. Very misleading if you accepted its analysis at face value.
For instance, the analysis of the situation after it gave the same name to two people above, based on what it assumed about their relationship with a third person, was nonsense; one was an adult, the other a two-year-old.
Although it gives all the cautions and caveats beforehand, it then goes into full bullish mode, so you need to always treat what it says with great caution.
The actual translations, tho', wow...

Or you could give it to me.
I've worked with both solicitors and children. I'm now a dab hand at deciphering the indecipherable.
Wills from 1600 though have defeated me. That's going on a genealogy forum 😉 unless Farway wants to experiment.
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Mine, Gemini, sorted a 1783 Removal Order for me, but it was reasonably legible with a bit of care. What was handy was it transcribing to copy & paste text

Ha-ha - very kind. Can you turn a whole page into printed text in 5 seconds? 😀
