Short transit time in Dubai

I am booked on a flight to Australia in two weeks time. Origionally the transit time at Dubai was nearly 2 hours but the flight time from Glasgow to Dubai has been extended, due to the new route they have to fly, and now I only have 1 hour 15 minutes. I am travelling business class so should be able to leave the pane quickly but I wonder if this is still enought time to let me to get the flight onwards? I do not want to miss it as there is another 24 hours before the next flight to Perth and, at this time, do not want to spend it inn Dubai. A slightly concerned, fit, octoginarian. (I can walk fast!!) I do have the option to cancel my flight and get a refund but I am particularly keen to travel to visit family not seen for a long time.

With the current disruption in Dubai there is absolutely no guarantee you'll land on time, there has been extensive short notice holding of arrivals as Iran continues it's attacks, 1 hour 15 minutes pretty tight.

In my past experience Emirates are pretty good at having agents at the gate for those on short connections to Australia, but times are not normal.

If you do travel you'll have to accept the possibility of a night in Dubai.

Broadly speaking, with no delays 75 minutes should be plenty of time, especially if you're among the first off the plane. It would be helpful to know who are you flying with, and are both flights on a single ticket straight through to Australia or did you book separate flights?

Personally, I think the time is a bit tight. Assuming you need to board the flight at least 30 mins before, please getting off the flight and moving between gates.

Saying that here is the official guidlines from Emirites.

As the Government is advising against all but essential travel to Dubai will your travel insurance be valid if there are any problems?

Yes, both tickets are on a single flight and I booked directly with Emirates.

It's pretty obvious the airline is Emirates all the way, they are the only airline that fly to Dubai from Glasgow and from Dubai direct to Perth, nobody in their right mind would buy separate tickets!

Have you ever been through DXB?, 75 minutes is very tight as you have to go through security even as a transit passenger, there are some long walks possible and the gate for the second leg closes 20 minutes before departure.

Yes, I have flown that route before and passed through Dubai airport. That is why I am slightly concerned and was asking for the opinion of others. I just wondered, when the timing was changed, what the chances are of the Perth plane being held for transit passengers.

I'd expect that in normal times they would be meeting you at the gate on arrival from GLA if on time and escorting you to your next flight.

However, I don't have any inside information on the cut off time for that action.

As above, another issue is that your travel insurance is not going to be valid as long as the current FCDO advice is in place.

It's a trip to see family so does that mean no hotel costs lost if you reschedule?

If so, get a refund and rebook with sensible notice (to avoid price gouging) via a non-Middle East interchange.

It is hard to see how this connection falls under "essential travel"

While a sensible suggestion, Non Middle east interchange is not nearly at convenient for me. Flight times are so much longer and more flights involved and, the loss of a courtesy car to collect me from my home. I do have a holiday booked with my family when there and I could not reclaim that expense on my travel insurance as my daughter made the booking. I'm desperate to see my grandson and them an as I've not seen them for 2 years.
