Party wall indemnity
Can anyone give me a few names of insurance brokers who can broker a party wall indemnity policy ...not for a house sale...but for a homeowner protecting against adjoined neighbour claims of damage please. This is for works already carried out not works yet to take place.Thank you

To be clear, you're looking for retroactive cover for work that you've already had done? Or did someone else commission the work?
If it's retroactive I think you'll be struggling - the policy should be in place before any work commences.

Thank you for replying. Insurer instructed resin injection for subsidence and as non excavating it wasn't felt to come under the party wall act. Retroactive...similar indemnity insurance that solicitors buy for a sale of property if no party wall agreement can be produced.

What are the circumstances here? If you did the work and are remaining the owner, wouldn't a claim for damage just be a third party claim covered by your buildings policy anyway?
The point of the policies aimed at conveyancers is that they cover the buyer for things their predecessors did.

Thank you for replying. Yes the property is not for sale. It is possible that as the insurer instructed and paid for the works any damage claim would be paid by them or contractor if proven caused by the work. Just a bit worried, although the remedy was needed to stop movement and presumably protect the adjoined house as well. Just thought maybe there would be some kind of liability insurance my friend could get just in case

If your insurers instructed the guys that did the work then your claim would be against your insurers if they instructed people that didnt do the appropriate things with a party wall.
Alternatively register a complaint with your insurers now about it and get confirmation from them that they will either indemnify you for any future claim from your neighbour or that they will purchase an appropriate policy for you.
