Retrieving a landline number after it has been released.
Between them, Sky and A&A managed to lose my mum's landline number of over 30 years and it has been released back to Virgin (it was originally an NTL number.)
Sky gave compensation. A&A denied any reponsibility and blamed just about everybody else.
Is there any hope of getting the number back for her, ported to another VoIP provider?

Have you tried dialling your mum's old landline number to see if it is still unallocated then contacting Virgin if it is?

The number is still unallocated. I did try contacting Virgin but I just felt like they were fobbing me off.
I'm neither a customer, nor a potential customer so they (understandably) don't have much incentive to help.0 -
Can your mother's current provider request it from Virgin?

Current provider is Sky. They washed their hands of the issue when my mum accepted their compensation, so they're not going to do anything.

A&A website states:
If you have recently ceased a number with another service provider then it is usually still possible to port the number, as long as it is within one month of being ceased. (Ofcom General Condition C7.6b)
Maybe put the pressure onto them to recover the number from Virgin?
