G24/DCB Claim Form, Notice of Allocation Received

The mediation call is now complete, but not without its frustrations. My Dad completed a delegation of authority form so I could mediate on his behalf and this was sent on 20th May. But yesterday my Dad got the text reminder of the mediation so we felt that for whatever reason they weren't going to call me…and they didnt.
I let my Dad know what to say. The mediator called and explained some of the particulars of the case, but my Dad quickly said "I disagree with the particulars of the claim and the claimant has provided no proof, so my offer is Zero".
The mediator said that was fine and if my Dad was prepared to go to court, which he said yes. The mediator then said they would email this outcome.
As I understand the next step is to wait for a letter with the hearing date (which includes the WS deadline) and hope they discontinue before the hearing.

Yep - and I'll eat my hat if they don't! 😀

I have just received the notice of allocation. Am I correct in saying that the WS is due on 7th January 2027?
Anything else I should be aware of? Is it worth writing a WS now or wait as will they will likely discontinue?

Good old HHJ Murch looked at this! Haha!
Anyway, the fact that the hearing fee is due first (in late December) means DCB Legal will discontinue before Xmas.
Please show us the NoD when they email it over after failing to push you to settle. Ignore their calls unless you want a laugh winding them up or telling their hapless 12 year old turkey-teethed paralegal to hurry up and discontinue & crawl back under their stone.

I just looked up HHJ Murch, that's funny!
So basically wait and see if they pay the hearing fee and if they do, I should get started on a WS? But in the meantime I shouldn't bother starting it and just wait and see?

Correct, so you could call the court at the beginning of January to see if they paid it, but its cutting it close due to the 7th deadline
But
They will email an N279 discontinuation document before Xmas, possibly going in your spam folder, at which time its over with, a nice Xmas present , no need for a WS or any phone calls
