Suffolk Sue - I'm in England - just!
Thank you all for your good wishes. I lay in bed this morning, refreshed a little, and wrote a list of reasons why mam shouldn't be left in the house overnight. My brother is going to try to speak to a social worker today, yesterdays told me she would be far too busy to speak to him today. I'll ring Citizens Advice.
Redruby she does have an alarm on a wrist band, the morning she collapsed she'd taken it off, we found it on the bathroom windowsill. It was dad who managed to raise the alarm.
Thank you Gers, I'll take a look now.
Hope everyone has a good day x

Morning All
DP1 sending hugs like others I remember the minefield known as care for my late DMIL. I hope you get a better response soon.
Ruby hope your DM feels better soon.
Lovely sunny morning but cold this morning. We had a visit from our lovely neighbour again this morning. She is elderly and worries me as she is the back of us and has to walk passed our tall fenced garden. Today it was because her carer had left a damp flannel on the bathroom sink. Yesterday it was because there were 2! Now safely back in the warm.
My car is due its MOT on Thursday but when I went to use it at the weekend it has a flat battery! Friend bringing charger over later. Car issues seem to be a theme on here.
Hope everyone has a good day hugs to all who want them.

Hi, I would advise to ask the SW about the “Just Checking” service, most Local Authorities use this. It’s an activity monitoring system which helps care professionals complete care needs assessments. Which is what your mum will need.
It is a plug and go system, it shows activity, movement and door sensors. So if your mum for example was getting up at night and opening the front door, it would show this, along with how long the door was open, which may indicate if she is going outside.
Movement sensors in the kitchen, could indicate if you mum is going into the kitchen, door sensor showing opening the fridge etc, could indicate if your mum is making herself something to eat and drink.
There’s no cameras or microphones. No cost.
Hope this helps, it might give you the evidence you need to put your case forward.

Afternoon All
Sending you lots of love dp1, what a horrible situation. Really hope you can get something sorted very quickly. Stay one step ahead of SW as they'll do anything to save money.
Good news on the gardener Gers, sounds like you had a busy time.
Sorry your DMum had a fall Ruby, hope you can get a walker for her.
Not a lot going on here but it was nice to have the house to myself again last night and I slept quite well.
Take care. XX

Afternoon all, a late one from me today.
@dp1- I'm so, so sorry you've had such a negative experience with the SW over your mum's future - a distinct lack of empathy from someone who should know better. Speaking to CAB is a good idea, I hope they can point you in the right direction. Calling Age UK might be another option. You mentioned your mum has carers in three times a day - would an extra fourth visit late evening be an option? My dad had dementia (along with various other ailments) and often had falls, eventually being admitted to hospital and from there to a care home with nursing care. That only happened because I flatly told the SW I wasn't willing to be his carer any longer (that wasn't true, of course I would) and the hospital staff backed me up. Sometimes you just have to brazen it out. Hugs to you (and your parents) and a Happy birthday for your dad. X
@pepsi-kins - I hadn't heard of the Just Checking service before, it sounds a good idea.
I've had a busy day, so much so I forgot about lunch! Never mind, instead I'll have an early dinner of cooked gammon slices, hash browns and either egg or beans. This morning I moved everything out of the pantry in readiness for the heating engineer's visit that took all of 20 minutes - boiler given a clean bill of health for another year. 🙂 Then I washed down the walls, skirting board, floor and shelves. After that I checked the dates on the contents before putting it all back. I did find a few things nearing their BB date and have noted them on the meal planner to use up over the next few weeks. There were two unopened jars of sweet mincemeat with a BB date of Oct 25 but I'm not worried about them, it lasts far longer than it says.
My parcel of summer tops has just arrived and, tbh, I haven't got the energy to look at them yet. Tomorrow will do.
Back tomorrow, hugs to anyone who needs one, whatever the reason. Take care. X
Be kind to others and to yourself too.11
