First Direct have never stopped offering £25 to new customers. But since Martin's little scam they insist in transferring your salary to the account to get it.

Pity they will remember me from the first time i got £35 out of them for opening an account. Still in all fairness, i kept it open for 2 months before closing it.

ive opened an account last month and i dont have to pay my wages into it and still got the £25, even though they wanted my wages to be paid in, so i dont think they are that fussy?

    scam
    noun [C] INFORMAL
an illegal plan for making money:
    an insurance scam

The First Direct £25 wasn't a scam, it was legally taking advantage of what First Direct were offering to everyone.

Jeez, do people not have a sense of humour?

Yes, it was legally taking advatange of a loophole which FD only have themselves to blame for, but I was using scam in the sense that the promotion was being used not in the spirit it was intended. Perhaps it was the wrong word to use.

And actually scam means a fraudulent business scheme or to swindle. You could argue that FD was swindled out of the £25, albeit legally, by people opening accounts without having any intention of using it.

Now as BG I have the luxury of having the last say on this matter - and it is now closed.
