anyone switched a joint to the santander edge for the bonus? Any good?

Well, open two sole accounts at the same Halifax and then switch them.
If you do this for a bonus, the common wisdom is not to switch your main important account and switch some secondary 'donor' or 'burner' account instead. Then you can switch it again for another bonus etc.
