Exactly - you really don't know, it can go either way. I inherited 2 glass vases that cost £7 each in the 70s and were sold by Woolworths. They are now selling between £2k and £3k and one recently sold at auction for £17k as it was a rare colour.
I do however keep an eye on the market and once it starts going down they will be sold! Auctions are the best place for inherited "valuables" if you don't want them.3
