Lloyds switch eligibility dates checking?

Hi

Completed a lloyds switch a few years back and I wish to switch to them again but I have about another year to be eligible for the switching bonus. Do these banks verify and check on past accounts for dates when we last did a switch?

I did a first direct one last year and had one before yet they still gave me switching bonus!

In theory yes they will check, up to you to gamble or wait for a bit longer and start the cycle again

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

how long ago did you open the first direct account before the one you opened last year. Lloyds are very much aware of the last account incentive you received I’ve tried numerous times and failed….. but this time I do actually qualify as I’ve not received a bonus since 2022

My experience with Lloyds is that they are very good at checking. I've tried to chance it in the past and they have not paid out, even going so far as to send a letter to explain why. The recent CL switch offer was the first time in a few years I've been eligible and I was paid as expected.

Where I did have success in the past was in qualifying for a Halifax switch where I shouldn't have because of a past Lloyds switch, but again this was a few years ago. With the way LBG are consolidating their backend systems I have no doubt they would be much better at catching this sort of thing these days.

By all means try if you want, just keep in mind that there's no guarantee of anything and you won't be able to complain if/when they don't pay out.
