I can't find an item I have sold

I sold an item a few days ago and simply can't find it.

I messaged the buyer explaining the situation that I genuinely can't find it, but added I would refund now but keep looking for it and if I find it I would send it off, free of charge.

The buyer hasn't replied.

I messaged again and still no response received.

This happened to me once before .. I emailed the buyer who seemed polite enough and said, no problem, these things can happen to anyone. I was then able to cancel at the buyer's request and all was good.

What should i do this time .. is it worth asking the buyer again. I would imagine most people now with smart phones would get notification of a message, so i am sure the buyer will have at least seen my messages.

I turn notifications off on almost every app that I install. I bought an item off ebay a week or two
back and didn't check ebay once. I was in no rush for it and read that RM had issues in my postcode
with delayed items so didn't think it was worth checking unless it didn't arrive after a couple of weeks.

I had a different item that I needed and checked the tracking a few times but only once on ebay to
get the tracking number and then only used the RM website.

Not everyone will be constantly glued to their phones and checking purchase updates.

It happens, stuff gets lost sometimes… you've already explained the situation, just refund the buyer and leave it at that. I wouldn't neg someone for this but some will, so be prepared for that possibility.

  • Just refund it, i've had to do it before in the past and it was fine
