Budapest is lovely, I went for my honeymoon

you have to go to a Spa, it a great experience, I went to the Gellert Baths and it was nice and I think there are better one's located elsewhere, there's outdoor ones which would comfortable in June

Budapest is reasonably priced as I remember, some cheap eats and drinks

    hi there,
i agree, budapest is lovely - there are several posts with recommendations on here already - see:

    etc

baths are great - and gellert is pretty. Some aren't mixed so it's worth checking which days they are open for women and which they are open for men. The rudas bath has a late night opening that is mixed, held one night a week.

I would also recommend going to one of the old cafes, these are good value for money with yummy cakes, the most touristy one is Cafe Gerbeaud, which is a bit more pricey.

I have just come back from working in Hungary for 2 months.
It was in Szekesfehervar about an hours drive from Budapest. I only saw Budapest when driving through to the airport and back but does like nice.
Food and drink is cheap but thats about it. Clothes etc are the same price as here. Activities can be cheaper to we found we could go bowling alot cheaper to and the cinema was in English with hungarian subtitles?! and was about a pound
Target for 12 months TV - Console - Holiday (not necessarily in that order:rolleyes: )

  • We went to Hungary two summers ago and my favourite place in Budapest was the Great Market Hall on the Pest side - can't remember the exact address. The stalls are just mind-blowing! Vegetables, fruit, meat, baking, stands devoted to paprika etc etc. Upstairs there are tourist stands of crafts and amazing stands of food - ready to take away or just eat there. Our family chose different things and all were amazing and delicious!

generally speaking there is more on the pest side - but I really don't think it matters. You'll need to use the trams to get about or do quite a bit of walking to cover the city properly.
