We've been doing some cleaning this morning, as our cleaner has changed her routine and can no longer fit us in. At the moment it's not too onerous but I can see it will become more of a chore over time. The alternative is, of course, finding another good and reliable cleaner but then that ties at least one of us to the house whilst they are here so am holding off for now.
@Gers: I immediately thought of you and the Grasshopper when I saw the fire on the news. How dreadful for everyone in the area and so disruptive.
@dp1 : I hope things are moving forward regarding your parents. Do we have a fingers crossed emoji?
Short visit here today; housework is calling!

Hi everyone,
TA, we have made the decision to sell our Yorkshire house. We have been using it less and less and when we do we seem to spend the whole time doing jobs. We let it out to cover the bills and upkeep but it doesn't give us an income above that and family seem to have stopped using it for the most part so we are going to sell. We'll just stay in a hotel or something if we want to visit in future.
I have been able to do a couple of jobs that have been bugging me that I had absolutely no energy for over the last few weeks so that makes me happy. It is lovely here so Steve is having a go at the garden.
Izzy, sorry your holiday has been cancelled. Steve's niece has had her college trip to Bali cancelled as well so she's not happy although Steve's sister is!
I hope your mum's ok Ruby.
Thinking of you dp1.

Afternoon folks. SNOOZER if neither you nor your family use your Yorkshire house so much these days it seems you have made a sensible decision to sell. There are plenty of hotels and B&B's around if you do want to visit God's Own Country again.
So many holidays are being affected by this war. My middle DGD should be going to Thailand beginning of April (her BF's relative who lives in Australia is getting married there and the family invited DGD to join them) but it seems Thailand is one of the next zones in fear of holidays getting cancelled. No word yet but, like Steve's sister, both me and DD will be secretly pleased if it is cancelled.
I had a lovely surprise delivery earlier. An early birthday present (birthday not till Thursday but I won't be here) It's a Betty's Happy Birthday Box. As you'd expect with Betty's there are some gorgeous goodies in it and I have been ransacking it already! It would take someone with stronger willpower than me to leave it alone!
Have a good evening folks. I hope we hear from Dp1 soon with better news. RUBY, your poor DM I hope she isn't suffering any nasty after effects from her fall. take care all x

Hello everyone
I think this is the first time I've had my laptop on for a week.
I remembered it was your mams birthday today Gers, my dad was 91 today, the first birthday he's spent without my mam for about 70 years. He has been slowly settling into the care home, thinking my mam will join him there has been keeping him going. However, when I was at the hospital with mam this afternoon, a social worker arrived to do mam's assessment. She decided that she can't get financial help for a care home as she doesn't fall at night, or at least she hasn't while she's been in hospital, we honestly don't know if she does or she doesn't at home as she hasn't been telling us, and I told the social worker that. She qualifies for carers 3 times a day and that's it, I told the social worker she is just going to leave the house and try to go to find my dad, at least a mile away and across busy roads so at some point she's going to fall down or get knocked over - she told me it might help if I stopped being so negative….
I spoke to my brother when I eventually got home after leaving mam in tears, we can appeal but other than that have no idea what to do, I'm going to ring Citizens Advice in the morning. If any of you have any experience with this sort of situation, I'd really appreciate your advice xx
