Diesel car, worth considering?

Are you saying that one should go for a diesel car with a higher mileage?

The message one ought to take from this, is do your research for known issues when you buy a secondhand (or even, new) car. Some cars and engines have a poor reputation. Peugeot/Citroen adblue issues are all too common, not helped by the pump being built into the tank so both need replacing when the pump goes faulty.

Not sure why all the hate on Diesel.
I ran a Focus 2.0 for 5 years. One of the best engines I've ever had.
Powerful, Fast, Economical (even round town),
Adblue/DPFs make them pretty much as clean as most petrol. If you buy Adblue in larger containers from somewhere like Amazon, its not really a big deal.
It's only because manufacturers are now dropping Diesel models, that I've been forced to go Petrol/HEV/PHEV to get the car I want.

My 2016 Peugeot Diesel 2008 (not AdBlue) auto has been flawless, albeit only done 35k. Annoyingly it's Cat 5 which might prove to be the reason I'll change it.

Ok, let me out myself... I have no ide what you are all talking about when you mention adblue, etc. We've had a diesel Citroen C3 for 7 years now (14 reg) and I have never come across it...

That's because it's euro 5, has Def fluid, expensive top up at around 100k.
Adblue came in around 2015 for euro 6.

More like "think hard before getting a Peugeot with known common issues"
Research whatever it is you're looking at (maybe let us here in on the secret?) before taking the plunge.

What's Def fluid?

Well, I am looking, among others, at this one:

(Note the low ratings for the seller...)
In general I don't care about speed and such like. Considering that I use the car for work it must be cheap to run (and possibly maintain), that is my priority.
As I said, we have a Citroen C3 which overall has been trouble free, that's why I thought that this one might be a good idea.
