Bank account for voluntary group
We organise classic scooter rallies in our area. We put on bands and sell scooter related items. Parts/clothing etc.We charge for entry and overnight camping to events. All organisers are volunteers and all profits go to charity. Cancer research/air ambulance/lifeboats. We are not a registered charity or similar due to the paperwork/time involved in setting this up. We try to keep it simple! We have a bank account in 2 names with Barclays who want to charge us for paying cash in to their branch(!) and in to the post office and also for each card transaction. We turnover 5k to 10k a year. Is there a bank out there who would offer us a simple account for free? Tried Coop but as we don't meet their 'pigeon hole' categories - not a business/personal/charity, they don't want to know. Any ideas?

might be easier to be a charity than get the sort of account you are after

Have a look to see whether Natwest's community account fits the bill. The Virgin account has a limited number of transactions limit.

Try one of the progressives, such as Metro.

The Virgin club and associations account allows 10 free transactions a month. Under business accounts on its website.
