Barclays Limit Request

Hello
I am using my Barclay mastercard from 22 months and my credit limit was £1000 , I never missed my payment and the remaining balace is £650.
Today i raag barclays to increase my limit coz it has never been increased and she said they can not increase my limit at this moment but try after 2 months.
And end of my conversation she said i should apply new VISA card with them instead of credit limit increases.
Thats is so strange they asking me to apply new card but can't increase my limit on my card.
