Outfox Energy meter reading issue

The difference for me is 15636-14120 = 1516 kWh difference of Electric readings and therefore in excess of the 250 kWh minimum.

I have already paid Home Energy £322 for this electric.

If this was to now be refunded by Home Energy and recharged at Outfox rates it would cost £349.

In my case the meter is a 'smart meter' and looking at the data readings uploaded I can calculate that the date that the meter was reading 14120 was during the day on 15th October 2025.

I am billed up to and including 12th January 2026 by Home Energy and Outfox Energy took over my supply on 13th January 2026. I do not see how they could justify using a 3 month old reading.

Looking at the info supplied by SO energy they can estimate (according to industry rules) the electric reading to be up to 250 kWh less than actual on the date of supplier change. This would mean getting a refund from the previous supplier. My rate for Home Energy was 20.13496p / kWh + VAT @ 250 units = £53. If I was to move to Octopus today the price capped tariff would be 27.827p (inc VAT) per kWh @ 250 units would be £70 for the same Electric.

It does not seem fair that you could be asked to pay £17 extra for 250 kWh of backdated electric already paid for.

I suppose it is therefore important to have photographic evidence to support the readings of the dates when the supplier change happens. I have both photographic evidence and also a smart meter that reads every 30 minutes to show what the actual meter readings were. The meter readings supplied are actually recorded as meter readings on both Home Energy and Outfox Energy websites.

I am still hopeful that Outfox will just correct.
