Energy Club/British Gas fixed tariff vent

I was on a 12 month dual fuel fixed tarif with BG, Exclusive Fixed Energy v78, due to end in October 2026. Just out of interest I did a comparison on the MSE Energy Club website on Monday (I normally do this every few months just to keep an eye on things) and noted a 2yr deal being offered, Longer Fix Feb28 v1, for 2 years. With all the shennanigans going on and looking at the numbers making a small saving plus a small cashback I decided to switch.

Off went the application, the same day with a switch confirmation email from MSE EC at 11.01am. On Thuesday morning, 3rd March at 10.22am came an email from BG saying the switch was done. Checked my online account and yup, electric switch done but no gas. I waited for the gas switch to come through then went on the chat that afternoon. A bit of to and fro and I was assured the switch would go through and to give it another 24hrs. I waited 48, give 'em a bit more time and I was busy.

Checked this morning. Nowt. On the chat again to be told the switching instruction had come through from MSE but only for electric. No record of the gas switch even though I'd signed up for a dual fuel switch and had the confirmation email from MSE EC. A lot more to and fro and BG are adamnt they've no instruction from MSE EC.

I've emailed MSE EC to ask what is going on. Gut feeling says I'll get something back saying the tariff was pulled and or some words like that ( I could say more), we're sorry, yada , yada. And yet they emailed me to say it was going through and BG did at least get an instruction on the electric. What a flippin' mess, and annoying to put it mildly. No doubt I'll end up with BG blaming MSE and vice versa so no-one one wins, least of all the customer, me.

No doubt I'm not the only one in this position but needed to vent a little.
