Limited car breakdown cover when included on car insurance
I just got AA car insurance which included breakdown cover and only afterwards saw restrictions say cover is limited to one call out per policy year. This to me seems cr*p. I've not had a breakdown for many years and keep car well maintained but I could get unlucky - so if I have one breakdown I've got to worry that I'm not covered until insurance renews in a year? Anyone else come across this or got any solutions?

I'm not sure what sort of answer your looking for? It is what it is, and the price will have reflected that.
If you're within a cooling off period, you should be able to cancel, and pay for a policy that provides for multiple call outs in a year.
It also seems weird that you've not had breakdown cover for years with apparently no concerns, yet now that do you, you're concerned the limit is 1 per year.

Breakdown cover is an optional add-on (like legal cover), it will have options/coverage at various additional costs (home start, European travel etc). One of the things you're supposed to read and agree to before ticking the "I have read and agree to" box.

If you have a breakdown, you can then get a standalone policy. Not a big deal.

Thanks for replies everyone. Yes, I should have checked small print. I just hadn't noticed that restriction and had assumed "this is the AA, as one of the original top breakdown companies, would not have that kind of restriction" -I'd not come across this when I've had breakdown cover before.

Now that consumers seem to be price driven, most insurers and the like have pared down versions of their policies, which exclude some things included in their full fat version. You can get standalone breakdown cover quite cheaply.

Buy your own cover instead of adding it onot your insurance policy.
