Car finance on PCP but no V5C in my name

But that's a different issue. The link relates to a certain type of "pre-reg" deal where the end customer "buys" a car (as in, they pay the full amount of money for it) but they don't have their details properly entered as the registered keeper because there is a contractual restriction that the manufacturer imposes on the first buyer, to keep the car for a period of time.
In PCP, the end customer isn't buying the car initially, they are paying a deposit and a monthly amount. They might or might not pay a final lump sum amount. They don't need to decide whether to pay this amount at the end, until near the end. So they may never be the owner of the car. Which is very similar to a lease, where they are never the owner (and never will be). And its well established that for leases, the registered keeper of the car is also the finance house.

it is well established that the finance houses do it that way. No legal reason for it. But their house, their rules ….

The pre reg cars may also have been offered sold through PCP financing.
