ELECTRIC EICR NOT EIC as electrician done a runner

morning

Guidance needed please ….builder did annex extension however he turned out to be a cowboy builder who left work not passing building regulations. Has cost me extra £3k+ so far but can’t get EIC as he holding that to ransom plus photos proving drainage work due to argument on money paid.

My only alternative was to get qualified electrician to do EICR certificate will this pass As I have no other option ?

I have contacted citizen advice throughout these issues and can take the whole thing to court if needed but just want this finished and passed.

Many thanks

When we had our extension done, we ended up having to get an NIC EIC certificate by another Electrician. It was not easy or cheap to get an Electrician who was agreeable.

Did the Builder do the electrical work, or another sub-contractor? If the latter, can you contact the sub-contractor directly?

For the drainage, can you satisfy the Building Inspector by undertaking a CCTV survey?

An EICR just reports the condition of the electrics, it’s not the same as an EIC, so it might not satisfy building control - honestly I’d check with them first so you don’t spend more money for nothing.

  • thank you the electrician was sun contractor via builder and his card with details on doesn’t work and can’t trace him…..tried several electricians and none will do EIC as not their work so best bet was EIC

going to use coloured dye on different pipes then video it from tap/toilet toilet to sewer pipe
