Completing probate online

I have just sent FIL inheritance tax forms off and know I can’t apply for probate until I receive a code number from HMRC . Can I start the probate forms online and save them so that once I get the code I am all ready to apply. Thank you

It is a long time since I did this, but I think you can. Personally, I would print off the paper forms and write all the values in. Enter all the values online when you have the code number.

Hallo, yes I started the probate online form whilst waiting for the IHT code to come in. You can only get so far with the online application without the code, so I also printed the paper probate application so I could read all the info I needed to fill in later. It was all quite straightforward. As soon as I got the IHT code, I went back to the online application and completed it. Got probate within 2 weeks.
