British Gas Fixed Tariff
Hi
Dual fuel with British Gas. Last month I renewed my fixed tariff with British Gas (Exclusive Fixed Feb27 v1) for a further 12 months. Then came the news prices were going down and then came Trumps attack on Iran.
So having first thought I'd missed a saving I now hope I'm protected from the forecast sharp increase caused by Trump. Have I got that right?

As things stand at the moment, probably yes (although without knowing the details of the costs you fixed at, it's not conclusive).

Hard to say as anything might happen. But if prices do go down see if there's a way to switch to a lower tariff with BG without having to pay a fee. And see what deals you can get elsewhere too. Some providers will pay your switch fees (at least they used to do so) or their deals may be so good the exit fee is immaterial.

Presumably the OP's current fix is likely to see a drop yet to take account of the price changes most suppliers seem to be applying to fixes as from April.

OP, I'm with British Gas and they don't do dual fuel as far as I know. They treat gas and electric as two separate accounts. Worth checking. There were no fixed deals available with BG for electric or gas when I checked at the weekend - just the cap tracker and SVR.

I thought Octopus did that? Maybe for referrals though. If you know someone else on Octopus who can refer you, I understand you both get cashback or credit.
