You're not a silly fool, they have no case, don't worry.

What type of item / piece of "equipment" was it that you sold?

So long as it was working at the time & as described, then you can ignore them. At least till you get a letter from court.
Life in the slow lane2 -
Would the court papers have to have the sellers/OP name and address so they can proceed?
How could they get these details from Facebook?
I don't know that's why I am asking.

From earlier post: 'They came to view the equipment working in January, messaged me the next day to say they wanted to buy and 'didn't want to miss out' on it. I agreed the price - they came back to collect a few days later'. Assuming as it was a private sale the viewing and collection was from the OP's address!.
We still haven't been told what the equipment was but is likely the purchaser has now used it for their original purpose and no longer requires it. Plan A try it on with the OP. Plan B sell it themselves.

From OP
which someone came to view and wanted to buy.
Would say to me they physically viewed item at OP home?

But how would they get the correct person name to use on the court forms if they send any.
I assume you have to have these to pursue someone through the court system and not John Doe from 1 Any Street, Any Town England.

OP might have used their real name. Some people do, even on Facebook.
All that aside, the buyer is probably trying it on. As per the recent thread with the person who sold the campervan.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have not could of.0 -
Thanks.
I remember a thread on here from last year about some gym equipment being sold and set up in the buyer's home and a month later they said it didn't work and I think started a claim/refund but not sure what happened or locate it on here.

Block them on Facebook. Do it now.
Otherwise I suspect they will send threats in the hope of wearing you down, so you end up giving them money back - and they'll keep the item so are quids in.
If they want to go to the effort of a legal claim they can still do so, but I really doubt it'll happen.
