Joint account switch
Hi all,
Our Santander joint account is just a normal everyday current account since it was changed from the old 123.
Therefore wanting to switch to a NatWest one for the switching bonus and the cashback.
To open a NatWest joint account you must first open a sole account and then add the second person later on, however it then doesn’t let you switch the Santander account as it’s a joint account.
Am I right in thinking the only way of getting the bonus is to remove one of us off the Santander joint account, then switch as a sole person to NatWest and then add them to NatWest after the switch?

Are you saying that you've tried switching a joint Santander account into a joint NatWest account and one of the parties has blocked it in some way? This should be permitted, so which party said you couldn't, and on what grounds?

so you can’t just open a joint account with NatWest, you have to open a sole account then add the second party after opening.
However you also can’t switch a joint account to a sole account with NatWest, therefore from what I can gather I would need to change the Santander one to a sole account then switch.0 -
As it says there, a joint account can be switched to a joint account (but not to a sole one), so if you open a sole NatWest account and then add the second person, you should then be able to switch a joint account into it - nothing you've quoted above contradicts this?

would switching a few days (however it takes to add second person) after opening the account still qualifying for the bonus?
Presumed that you had to switch on opening the account to qualify0 -
I don't see anything in a brief look at the offer terms that suggests a switch having to be initiated as part of the opening process, have you seen anything implying that?
