Offering on a new house before mine is sold?

Don't give up hope just yet.
The property we are buying had several offers yet they decided ours was the best proposition. (And it wasn't the highest offer either!)
Positive thoughts :)

I offered on my current house that was on at a fixed price. My previous home wasn’t on the market when I made the offer.
The offer was accepted immediately and I moved 6-7 weeks later.

We put an offer in on a house that was rejected. We continued to look for several more months in the same (new to us) area without finding another one we liked the look of, so went back to the offer rejected house to have another look. We decided then that it wasn't the house for us so didn't reoffer. In the end it went for about £10K more than we originally offered, but they waited a year for that.
In hindsight it was in the wrong town for us anyway, and we're much better suited to where we finally ended up.
