Smart meter gas readings
Every month or so I manually transcribe my daily meter readings as shown on the Octopus website to my local spreadsheet so that I can keep an eye on how my energy use is going.
We were away over new year and so I didn't get round to this until mid January when I noted the figures up until 10 Jan. Last week I thought I ought to catch up so I looked at the whole month of Jan and was astonished to find that every reading for those first 10 days of the year had changed.
I've emailed Octopus to ask them if they can explain what's happening. So far I've not heard back. I know email isn't the best way to get a response they're more focussed on social media.
How long should I give them to get back to me and what is my next step if they don't provide a satisfactory answer?

If you are on the Tracker tariff for gas then the daily figures can be averaged across the month, it results in the same total energy used, but the daily figures can vary from the actual usage.
Also, are you recording the actual meter reading in m3 or kWh?
The kWh figures are only a rough approximation until the calorific value for the billing period is known.

Just a thought ? Could you upload the raw data from the meters?
I do not have an Octopus account any more so rely upon the Uswitch 'Utrack' feature. I can see a years worth of data from my electric meter. (I do not have a gas smart meter) If you can get the data via this method you could compare the values that Octopus Have?
