    I've just realised that I've probably got a different attitude to the OP, though I do appreciate his problem..

    My first thought would have been to treat myself to a decent metal detector to see what other "treasure" was in there.

    I assume that the age of the items that have been found rule out this as a likely possibility - allowing that the OP seems fairly clear that their sellers must have left the offending items.
