Yes, I’ve never heard of wheelchair users being banished to a separate room. Where did you get your info from, OP?

I've just looked at the seating arrangements at a local Cineworld to me, they seem to have wheelchair spaces towards the front, not a dedicated room at the back - these screenshots are for two different screens for films playing today.

My experience has also replicated yours in so far as the wheelchair spaces I have been aware of have been spaces at the rear / top of the auditorium. That does not mean there are not also, or alternatively in some cases, wheelchair spaces right at the front as I have never actually looked into the detail of wheelchair provision.

I also thought the description from the OP sounded rather more like a projectionists booth than a viewing room for public use (whether disabled or not).

In fact, for me, the whole raison d'etre of paying out for the cinema rather than watching at home a few weeks later is the big-screen experience and the surround sound and the environment and group shared experience & reactions element (even the annoying phone ring / popcorn and the universal sigh across the room) make the experience and value of the cinema. Being shut away in a small room to the rear and watching through a window seeing everyone else getting the full cinema experience outside seems like a particularly poor experience. I really can't imagine that the broom cupboard with a window stuck up at the back will have the full acoustic set up of the main auditorium.

Perhaps the OP could advise which actual Cineworld venue this was and we can review the website to see if we also see the disabled facility being offered as a dedicated room with window but segregated from the main auditorium? In fact, as I wrote that, with natural flowing language, I realise my use of the word "segregated" might even mean if wheelchair users were confined to a separate room, that might be more discriminatory than separate spaces left within the main auditorium.

EDIT - I just checked one screen at the local Cineworld and the "accessible" provision is right near the rear:

Cineworld accessible viewing boxes offer specialized, private, or enhanced viewing areas for wheelchair users and those needing extra comfort, featuring designated spaces with companion seating. Available at select locations like Silverburn (screens 2, 7, 9, 10) and Gloucester Quays, these boxes often include recliners and are bookable online.
