Sky Price Increases & Sky Q
After Sky announced the price increases, I have contacted them to cancel.
I have Sky Q (bought at the same time as the rest of the package & broadband). Sky want £277 in early termination fees for the Sky Q portion.
On the Weekly Money Saving Expert Email it states…
If you have Sky Broadband AND Sky TV, and you signed up for them at the same time (in other words, you took out a bundle), Sky told us that you can cancel the whole package penalty-free – even if it includes Stream or Glass. However, if you signed up for each service separately at different times, you may only be able to cancel the broadband penalty-free (not your Stream or Glass plan).
But the Sky customer advisors are saying otherwise. Is there anywhere Sky have announced this?

As long as you've not just joined, 100% you can leave or renegotiate. have you had the email yet?

Thank you, yes I have had the email. I have realised now that I wrote Sky Q, but meant Sky Stream.
The difficulty I have is that MSE is the only place I have found saying that Sky will allow you to cancel the whole package.
Sky themselves are telling me otherwise, the email doesn't mention cancelling under the TV section, only allowing to cancel the Broadband. The changes in terms and conditions part only mentions the Broadband service.
The thread that you mentioned didn't seem to have anything further. I was hoping somebody had an actual announcement from Sky that I could point them to.

Stream and Glass are not affected by the court ruling I'm afraid, it's because of the delivery system. It's only Q & HD box users that can leave or renegotiate besides broadband (and mobiles if affected?).
In this case, Sky are quite correct.

I've not had an email about a price change for my Broadband. Does that mean my price is not being increased?

What do your future bills say online?

My mate called Sky at the weekend because he got the email.
He noticed the price rise 2 weeks ago but had no email about it.
When he was telling the rep about price rise and wanted to leave or reduce the price he was told he couldn't leave as in contract and he mentioned the email and was told told screenshot it and send over to them so they can check it.
After a few mins they negotiated a lower price.
I haven't got my email yet but my April bill has the rises in it.

I received the email stating that my Sky bill with go up by £5 in April. I got through to Retentions/Cancellations but they still were adamant that I would have to pay £195 to leave them despite me explaining that the email states that "You’ll be able to end your contract during your minimum term without paying early termination charges". When I asked to make a complaint, I was told I would have to email customer services about it. I've never had this before when making numerous complaints over the years.
So I've emailed with my complaint - we'll see where that gets us. 🤬
