if you are on the update service with a paid -for 'paid work' enhanced DBS it's totally transferrable

If you are on the update service with a volunteeer endhanced DBS it;s transferrable among Volunteering roles

transferable is not necessarily what people expect it to be, with the update service otheother organisations can check you hold a valid dbs, what it can't do is get a certificate issued to the new organisation. It is then up to the organisation whether this is acceptable to them or not, most organisations dealing with vulnerable people want a dbs issued in their name to hold on record

It's quite clear you don;t understand how DBS currenty works or how the Update System allowed for full portability …

My 23yo daughter approached a youth theatre about any work opportunities. She did a couple of trial days which they were happy with and then said she needed to get a dbs before they could offer her work.

She did this which took a couple of weeks to come through and contacted them to say she now had it. She received a reply saying it wasn't that one she needed but an enhanced one.

Are they stalling rather than saying they no
    thanks.?

No, I dont believe so. She received very good and positive feedback each time she went in.

My gut is they dont know what theyre doing (or the person left to do it doesnt) hence telling her to 'get a dbs' then when she did told her that it wasnt that one she needed.
