Enhanced DBS needed

Thats a great idea thank you.
Shes going to chase up the theatre group to clarify the situation.

That is exactly my thought process. They must have people working there that theyve gone thru this procedure for, so why was she asked to get a dbs herself in the first place, instead of doing it the way youve described.
Shes going to chase it later and ask for clarification.

becasue of a lot of performing arts related wortk is Self -employed basis as many performers and teachers are genuinely self employed

The other workers may have the enhanced dbs through their main employment and working in the group in the evening.

Theres other students working there.

Has she asked them how they got their enhanced dbs?
Who did they contact?

No because she hasnt got their contact details to do so. They study at a different place to her. The youth theatre is situated some way away from where she lives. She met them when she did her trial

I don't think all DBS is transferable between organisations, my OH has enhanced DBS clearance as do I, my OH pays for the update service and still some places will do their own again

This: if an employer wants a DBS, enhanced or otherwise, they should communicate what the potential employee needs to do. "Get your own" is never going to be be the correct answer. The employer needs to check ID, for starters.
Even if the suggestion from monkey-fingers about doing voluntary work was feasible, a DBS gained in voluntary work almost certainly couldn't be accepted by a responsible employer.
I hope you can get it clarified...

Thank you Sue. That is my gut over it. She should have been told the correct procedure, not left to it, then told she'd paid for the wrong one and despite asking no further info on what you do next.
I'm going to tell her to chase with reference to they will need to see her ID so who should she send it to now you've mentioned it.
