Gas/Electricity Tariff etc
I am with Brit Gas for gas and e-on Next for elec and pay by DD for both: £40.69 for elec and £29.94 for gas, Total £70.63. my tariffs are due to end, Gas 23/05/2026 and Elec 27/07/2026
Possibly I would like to go dual fuel but obviously don't want to pay much more than I'm paying now but because my Tariff end dates don't match it looks as though I'll have to pay an early exit fee on my Elec but don't want to as I'm trying save money.
Any suggestions as to possible options, that would mean I can take advantage of the recent price drops and is it better not to go dual fuel ?
All helpful suggestions gratefully received.

If you want to go Dual my best thoughts are: -
Electric -
Don't do anything until 8th June (15ish weeks) when you will be able to change penalty free.
Your current Electric Tariff should get a government discount of approx 3.5p / kWh from 1st April. which should save you some money.
Gas -
Dont do anything - search for best tariff on 8th June for dual supply.
Your Gas Tariff should get government discount of approx 0.33p per kWh from 1st April.
Depending upon how you heat your property or heat water we are hopefully getting over the winter and therefore usage will be less in any case.
You could always have a look earlier to see if there are any savings to be had for your gas supply. You could go with home energy or Octopus who do not have any exit fees? Note that Home Energy may not give the full .33p / kWh government discount. Not sure if you have exit fees for Gas so it is possible you could change now. If you do have gas exit fees you can leave after 4th April penalty free (49 days before contract end)

How much gas do you use in June and July?
If it's not much, then the easiest option is to allow the gas deal to lapse and go on to a standard variable tariff for a couple of months. Then at the end of July, you can decide what new deal to sign up to.
If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.1
