Afternoon everyone,
Not much to report really. I am utterly skint until payday in 10 days - a cheque I thought had been banked ages ago actually hadn't and was cashed on Friday - d'oh. So, the cashflow has taken a wee hit. Aaah well, we have a freezer full of food so we'll be fine.
Still waiting on my FD money, I'm itching for it to arrive now so I can reach £4k in savings. Have just been looking at the calendar and my £230 'spends' for September is going to be stretched - there are a lot of family birthdays that I forgot about. Oh well, I like a good challenge
.

Hi everyone
Just a quick update from me. FD money has come in, so I have reached £4k and filled up my ISA allowance for the year.
No other monies will be paid into savings this month for various reasons, but the mortgage will be OP'd by £700x

Morning all,
I received a little more in my salary this month than was expected, so have put an extra £100 into my savings, meaning my total now stands at £4,100. Sooooo pleased, it seems to have taken me ages to reach the £4k mark.
Don't all yell at once, but I have started thinking about *whispers* Christmas. I drew up a list the other day of everyone that we need to buy for, and will be sorting through my present box later to match people of the gifts. Hopefully once done I can cross a lot of people off said list, which will leave only the 'main' family to buy for. Unfortunately, mine and OH's immediate family insist on spending a small fortune on everyone at Christmas, and therefore they end up being the people we spend the most on, mainly because we feel obliged to do so.
Right, off to shove some clothes on and continue my decluttering mission - today, the wardrobe :rolleyes::p! xxMFW

Hi guys
Not much to report from me. Usual OP of £700 has been made, so the mortgage now stands just over £94k. It looks like OPs for November and December may need to be cancelled - there is soooo much we need to pay for at the minute and I feel like I'm trying to keep to many balls in the air.
For the sake of my stress levels and sanity the easiest thing to do is shell out for the things we need to pay for with what would be the OP money, and start afresh in January with a brand spanking new budget. Thoughts of Christmas are looming as well, so I need to get my act into gear for that. I have my free £5 House of Fraser gift card, so will make a start today with a Christmas present bought using that xMFW

That sounds perfectly reasonable and the sensible course to take; needs must and on occasions it's not possible to save sufficient in advance. Hoping it eases the stress for you.0 -
Hellloooo everyone!
(ATB skulks in wondering whether anyone will remember who the heck she is!)
I hope that you are all well. It has been an age since I have posted on here, mainly because I haven't had anything MFW related to say because......
My OH proposed a couple of months ago and we are getting married next year!! :j:beer::j - So needless to say overpaying the mortgage had slowed right down (i.e. stopped) and we have been all hands to the pump saving every spare penny for the wedding.
However.... last month our fixed rate deal came to an end (hallelujah!) which meant that our mortgage payments dropped by £300 a month. Even with a wedding to save for, my MFW head was telling me to think about how we could use that £300 productively rather than it being extra money that we 'get used to' which gets spent the same as everything else. OH and I had a good chat about what we can afford to pay off the mortgage whilst continuing to save for the wedding and I pleased to report (drum roll please....)
We went into the bank yesterday and reduced our remaining mortgage term from 20 years 8 months to 12 years! Saving us a whopping £45,000 in interest! :T
Yippeee! xxxxxMFW
