Nationwide fairer share 2026 - cash deposits

I've read the guide on the site about maximising my chances of a 2026 Nationwide fairer share bonus, if indeed there is to be one.

For the purposes of qualification I (likely) need to "In two of the first three months of this year, pay IN at least £500 from a non-Nationwide account (this could be your salary, for example) AND make two payments OUT* of your account;"

Are cash deposits OK? Or must the pay-ins be a transfer from another bank?

Thanks,

Enceladus

I transfer the money from my Halifax account to my Nationwide account. It worked last year so I'm doing the same again this time. Fingers crossed they don't change the criteria .

It would be easier to pay into another bank and transfer to Nationwide, they might not check that hard but the wording indicates it must be a transfer in so paying cash in wouldn't meet the criteria was strictly applied

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

If you mean 'cash' as in notes and coins then depositing two lots of £500 in successive months might raise eyebrows, unrelated to the fairer share offer.

    The 2025 T&Cs stated:

"In two of the three months of January 2025, February 2025 and March 2025, you must:

    • have received at least £500 into your current account (transfers in from other Nationwide accounts do not count)…"

Does, "received" include cash deposits? Probably but it would likely be safer to transfer the money from another non-Nationwide account. The big problem with this promotion is that we're only given the terms after it's too late to do anything about it.

Why not pre-empt it by doing slightly more? I do £1150 in (part of a bounce of £1400 into RBS for the reward bonus + digital saver, then £150 for Nationwide saver) and move the £1000 out again, and do 3 payments on card for carrots at Sainsbury's (2-3p usually) and have well over £100 in the saver

In 2025 10 transactions a month in 2 out 3 months January to March was also a way of qualifying - for the current account, in addition to the criteria used in 2023 and 2024. This could include payments by direct debit, debit card or to other accounts - not including your own Nationwide accounts.

    Who's eyebrows exactly?! 😉

Nationwide won't blink an eyelid at 1k (in cash) deposited over two months.

They don't offer Post Office deposits so third party isn't even going to be involved.

It's the dictionary definition of received - so any accepted deposit other than internal transfers (as they've expressly excluded those)
