What are you using AI for and which ones perform best at which tasks?

I've been having a bit of a play with CoPilot to write and debug some Arduino code - not ever so complex but it's managing to do it and the code does actually work

I'm quite happy avoiding AI as much as I can at the moment!

I use chatgpt to ask questions and the results have been very impressive and helpful so far

I've used it in the past to check on PL rules for football. Some of the rules it quoted along with sources didn't actually exist so you may want to check the sources it's using before reposting anywhere.

I am thinking of using something like Oracle free web tier to mess around with it. I have some cognitive issues which mean I fail to complete almost any task, even documenting it and where I got does not help, but maybe an AI can help me in this struggle.
Right now it seems to me that AI is definitely in "learn" mode, even though it looks as if it is helping, everything it does is a learning experience for it.
The biggest difference between AI and other tech jumps is that all previous ones seemed to be about supporting an employee to make a decision more quickly or efficiently, while with AI I can really see how it can replace staff and apply it to staff in companies I used to work for.

Oddly enough, IBM is hiring staff rather than increasing AI use.

I use PS generative AI occasionally for work (though you need to be relatively competent at graphic design because it will usually get 90% of it right, and you'll then have to correct text or extra fingers).
I used Gemini for comparing two laptops, it saved me a little time I guess opening up both spec sheets - generally I find myself looking for reasons to use one rather than from organic necessity.Know what you don't0 -
Yes AI can be quite good for specs, I asked it if there were any downsides on buying a laptop with a particular version of an I7 and it warned me that the two previous models were way faster because they have Thermal of 45 rather than 15 on the new one. I imagine the new one used less energy which would have actually appealed but it shows you can't take newer model numbers as being better.

Yes, likewise it was extremely useful for that purpose.
Pointed out that a particular laptop I had considered had 115W TGP despite the particular graphics card topping out at 140W TGP meaning performance was being left on the table. Likewise the RAM speed was limited by the BIOS (and was unable to be changed) so despite having 5600Hz RAM in it, it downclocks to 4400Hz. Plus it had some serious cooling issues causing considerable thermal throttling.
None of this you'd realise by just glancing at specs. In this case, it gave me extremely nuanced information (including build quality, etc). I went back to check official forums and validated the information so it ended up proving incredibly useful in my search.Know what you don't0 -
I've been using 'Le Chat' which is part of Mistral Ai….
Frontier AI LLMs, assistants, agents, services | Mistral AI
Mainly because they are trying to break the US hold on AI. I only use it for basics, but have found it to be OK so far…
