CCJ Cancellation - Payment via DCB Legal Portal

Hi everyone,

I’ve received a “Judgement for Claimant (in default)” from the Civil National Business Centre (CNBC) regarding a claim by Smart Parking / DCB Legal. The judgement date is 17 February and the amount is £309.98.

I don’t have a record of receiving the original Claim Form, but that’s not the main issue. My priority is to pay the full amount this week within the 30-day window to have the CCJ cancelled and removed from the register.

I’m planning to use Form N443, but I have a few questions about the process:

I know I can pay DCB Legal directly through their online portal. Assuming they return a receipt or confirmation upon completion, has anyone encountered any problems with the CNBC accepting a PDF of this portal receipt as “evidence of payment” for an N443?

Does the CNBC currently accept N443 submissions via email (to ccbc@JUSTICE .gov.uk) or do they still require a hard copy by post to Northampton?

I’ve seen N443 fees ranging from £15 to £19. What is the current fee for 2026, and if I email the form, how do I pay it? Do they require card details, or is there an alternative method?

Is it quicker to have DCB Legal update the court themselves, or is the N443 route the only way to guarantee the judgement is removed (not just marked satisfied) within the 30-day window?

Any recent experience with this specific claimant/court combination would be greatly appreciated.

Why would you do that, given they will settle for as little as £1 if there are compelling reasons, such as the claim being impossible for them to win, e.g. if you are the keeper but were not driving? Or other compelling defence reasons.

If not they will accept £35 or so if you play it right. This is NOT achieved by emailing info@

  • I don’t have much time to contest the case and don’t want to risk having a CCJ.

I'm also not sure on the process of getting the best outcome at this stage of defending with a in default CCJ. I’ve successfully defended cases prior to this but I can’t seem to find much discussion of a successful outcome at this point.

Flipping heck, compared to other threads like it, you have ages to settle this! Cases like this were settled with just days to go. We've done this several times.

You have 3 weeks but it could be settled & wiped this week … and not for three figures.

I am now out all day/eve but tell us about the PCN and if the keeper was or wasn't the driver? And compelling issues, broken payment machine, double dip scenario or unlit signs in darkness etc?
