Final reminder - no prior correspondence received

Hi all, advice urgently needed. The driver of a vehicle drove into a car park managed by a private car parking company two and a half months ago. The keeper of the car received a final reminder letter 2 months after the event demanding £155 as no payment had been received within 28 days of the parking charge being issued. The keeper hadn’t received the parking charge or any prior correspondence before this. The letter doesn’t mention anything about being able to appeal, only the different ways to pay. What are the keeper’s options in this scenario? The final reminder was received 13 days ago. All advice gratefully received!

The keeper had better check their V5c urgently, ensuring that its up to date

Name the private parking company claimant involved

Who issued the £155 letter. ?

I doubt that Smart Parking posted a demand letter for £155, but will have done first for maybe £85

Missing paperwork is usually down to failures by the Registered Keeper

  • Thank you for responding Gr1pr - what would your advice be for the keeper at this point?

Wait For a Letter of Claim or a Money Claim

Check that the V5c log book is up to date

  • I can confirm the V5c is up to date. I will follow your advice and wait for the Letter of Claim. Thank you for your help and assistance 🙂

DCB Legal always discontinue defended Smart Parking cases.

The whole process is so easy you could even do this and come back at the end of the year with your inevitable Notice of Discontinuance, without any updates before then on this thread.

All of it is covered in the NEWBIES thread post 4, then post 2.
