APCOA Stansted Airport

Hi there,

I'm leasing a car with Arval through my LTD and forgot to pay my drop off at Stansted Airport.

I tried to call them a couple of days after and they said that I need to wait for the PCN to come over. On 16/01, Arval sent me the PCN through an email notification (not a notice to keeper).

They say the following:

  • We have contacted the issuing authority on your behalf and have asked them to send the fine direct to you, at the 'hirer' address listed above. This is because in your leasing contract you are responsible for either paying the fine/penalty amount or appealing upon receipt from the authority. (Which I doubt…)
  • Some authorities can take up to one calendar month to reissue a fine. If you don't receive the fine/charge notice after this time, then please contact the authority in question. If the address details above are incorrect you must contact us immediately so that we can update our system and resend the correct address information to the issuing authority listed above.

So they don't pay initially the fine but in case of an escalation, they pay and charge my account.

I went through the newbies section but I got a bit confused as I'm not sure if I need to act on it right now or just wait for the fine to come over directly to me, I'm afraid to get directly charged by Arval due to the escalation fine, they are basically saying : "we have forwarded your fine to you but if you don't receive it and if we get the escalation, we will pay but we will charge you".

I have received more fines in a few months here in the UK than 15+ years driving in France, it's crazy! 😅

Thank you all for your help!

You need to tell Arval that "under no circumstances are they to pay on your behalf." You need a Notice to Hirer in your name so you can appeal it. It is not a FINE just a speculative invoice.

These Private Parking company charges are definitely not fines, just invoices, but extremely plentiful

Wait for the Notice to Hirer to come in the post with your name and address on it

Just wait for the NTH then send the winning appeal in the Airport Drop Off Group thread. No link needed!

PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

" This is because in your leasing contract you are responsible for either paying the fine/penalty amount or appealing upon receipt from the authority."

They are also definitely NOT an "authority".

  • Thank you all, appreciate the help! I'll email Arval right away and wait for the NTH 🙂

I'll check the other thread to get myself prepared!

I hope that you appealed as the hirer citing non compliance with Pofa2012 ? ( not the blue text appeal template. )
